Instrument: Troy's cello was ascribed to Paolo Antonio Testore of Milan, having been played in the Boston Symphony in the cello section for decades before he was lucky enough to begin his own stewardship of it.

Bachelor of Arts - Brown University; Master of Music - Manhattan School of Music

Biography:
Troy Chang, a native of Concord, Massachusetts, is in demand in a wide array of musical settings, whether that be symphonic, operatic, chamber, or solo music. He joined the Sarasota Orchestra in 2017, and since 2015, is Principal Cello of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of Sarasota Opera from 2013-19 and was on faculty at the Luzerne Music Center in Lake Luzerne, NY from 2006-11, where he also curated the Faculty Chamber Music Series. He currently spends his summers with the Artosphere Festival Orchestra in Fayetteville, Arkansas and as Principal Cello with the Charlottesville Opera Orchestra in Charlottesville, Virginia. On faculty at Florida Southern College, he resides in Tampa and performs regularly with The Florida Orchestra. His principal teachers include Fred Sherry, David Geber, Carol Ou, and Joan Esch.

Passions/Interests:
Outside of performing, Troy enjoys cycling, craft beers, and candid photography.

Career Highlights:
Some of Troy's favorite musical memories include befriending and performing chamber music with the Dover Quartet, and performing Vox Balaenae for George Crumb 20-feet away in the audience!
