PROGRAM

Peter Oundjian conducts the music of two Romantic giants. Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto stands today as one of the composer's most beloved works. Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, blind since birth and described as "the definition of virtuosity" (The Observer), brings his phenomenal talent and inimitable technique to Rachmaninoff’s masterpiece. Brahms found Beethoven’s legacy so intimidating that it took him 20 years to compose his first symphony. The work’s soaring melodies and exquisite craftmanship proved that he was indeed a worthy successor.
